Hi Everyone!
-It’s been awhile since the last show recap-not since last year in 2009 🙂 CAROLINE BLUE took a break in January to relax & catch our breath (so to speak) before going into 2010. Let’s check out our 1st show in 2010 shall we?
-Saturday night on 2/13/2010 saw CAROLINE BLUE back @ Hotel Adams in Adams, NY. It was snowing off & on thru out the night. Anyone else tired of all the snow yet? Joe & Doc got there with the gear 1st followed later on by the birthday boy WWJ (me). 🙂 We got all our personal gear set up & waited for the sound company to show up. Keith hired S.N.G. Sound for this night & they did a great job. The lights they had were all LED’s-meaning no heat output. Plus his board is all digital. Seth & his crew did a great job!
-We went on around 9:45 PM and played till 1:45 AM with only 1 break used. Here’s the set list for the evening…

-As you can see, there are several new cover tunes added to our set list. we’re working on even more. What’s interesting is we received a more positive response to our 2nd set-which had many songs from previous 1st sets in it. We were all initially worried that with the time off we’d be rusty on stage but it wasn’t bad at all.
-You might have noticed that the list also has “Inside Ver.2.0” on it. The song “Inside” is off our Not for The Innocent CD. It’s a great song (IMHO), but It wasn’t executed right. There were time pressures going on and at the time of the recording we didn’t have the time/right presence of mind to make the changes needed. Details will be in a book all about CAROLINE BLUE someday 🙂 Anyway, we changed the tuning so it’s a lot lower-in fact, I’m using my 7 string guitar on it. The tempo has slowed down as well. I believe at some point we will be re-recording this song because Ver. 2.0 does the song much better justice. The vocals are a little different as well-although I’m still experimenting with it. At the pre-chorus’ I’m down to Peter Steele (Type O Negative) pitch.
-I have to mention also that Doc had a tough time during the 2nd set because one of the screws in one of his tuning pegs came out-rendering that string useless so Doc had to basically transcribe songs on the fly. He pulled it off though.
-Not only was it my birthday but we had one our friends-Danielle Rawlins. Even though she was in a wheelchair, she was out there dancing her heart out. And we all found out she’s quite a chugger! 🙂 Those who were there know what I’m talking about. Those who don’t-see what happens when you miss a CAROLINE BLUE show? 🙂
-We sold a bunch of CDs and some shirts tonight-even did a lot of autographs. That’s also very cool & flattering. My camera ran out of power during the 1st set so I couldn’t get too many afterwards, but I did get a few. Also, later on, I signed something that I’ve never signed before.I’ve signed CDs, shirts, body parts (woo hoo!), posters, guitar pics-but I’ve never signed something like this. Wanna hear this one? -After a show, we usually go somewhere to get something to eat. Sometimes it’s a place like Denny’s but many times it’s a Nice & Easy to get some subs. Well, we were at one and we were in line when this group of people came in-2 guys and a girl. We started making light conversation and the girl-who’s name is Katie-asks if we’re in a band. Then she wanted to get an autograph.Very cool. So she hands me what she planned on buying from the store. What was that you ask? A box of tampons (!!). So this is what I wrote-“Katie-May you always be fresh 🙂 Wayne W. Johnson CAROLINE BLUE” And yes, we did get a pic of it (pics coming soon!).
-For all of us in CAROLINE BLUE, I want to give a big thanks to the Hotel Adams staff & SNG Sound for everything that they did for us. Huge thanks to Jen who took the pics that will be coming up and, of course, all the people who came out to see us this night. We had a great time and I have to say this is one of the best birthdays that I’ve ever had to date. We’ll be back @ Hotel Adams on 3/13. Thanks again & keep rockin!
