Hi Everyone!
-Here’s a recap of what happened last Saturday night. We played at The Half Penny Pub in Syracuse,NY w/ Special Guests Lovebone. The night started off kinda unexpected. Both bands arrived at The Pub around 8-8:30 (I was the last to arrive-what a surprise there right?-HA!). Turns out the bar-while open inside-was locked! There was a sex toy party going on inside and we had to wait till they were done before we could get in.
I guess I missed something kinda funny before hand, but I’ll let The Andy Man fill you in on that one-he tells it better than me anyways 🙂
-We got in around 8:45 I think. Then we got everything set up and got Lovebone ready to play. Both bands got a decent turnout this night. Lovebone put out a great set which was a combination of cover tunes & their own originals.
Lovebone brings their own custom made mic stands when they perform and when they left it was like “where did the mic stands go?” 🙂 Great job guys!
-Then we hit the stage. Here’s our set list for this night….
SET 1
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (AC/DC)
Love Me or Leave Me
Love Gun (KISS)
Sex Type Thing (Stone Temple Pilots)
Deny
Living After Midnight (Judas Priest)
Pain
Talk Dirty to Me (Poison)
Slave to the Hourglass
Detroit Rock City (KISS)
I’ve Seen the Light Tonight
Paranoid (Black Sabbath)
Mine,Mine,Mine
For Whom The Bell Tolls (Metallica)
She (KISS)
Nothing Will Satisfy You
You Spin Me Round (Dead or Alive/Dope)
Hard Life
SET 2
Dead or Alive
Won’t Be Home Tonight
Out of My Life (I Want You)
Locked & Loaded (Halford)
Breaking the Chains (Dokken)
Rock & Roll All Nite (KISS)
-I want to start off by saying that I-as well as the rest of the band-were impressed w/ the Half Penny in-house PA/lights system. It’s come a long way. We had no problems hearing ourselves and-looking at the playback footage-it’s like we’re not playing at the same place.
Kudos to Chris & everyone at The Half Penny for the extension of the stage & heighten quality of the lights/PA!
-We had a cover oriented crowd this night. Some of our originals (i.e. “Love Me or Leave Me”, “Deny” and more….) went over great and others didn’t. “Love Gun” actually wasn’t in our set list this night, but it was being called out by the crowd right from the start so we did it for them. Actually, KISS was a very popular group to play here this night. Maybe we should do our Tribute to KISS show here next Halloween 🙂 Other songs were called out too and we even jammed a little on a few (i.e.”Psycho Circus” by KISS). We couldn’t do the requests for Danzig & Dio cause we don’t known any-at least not yet. 😉 Course, Andy started playing “Breaking the Chains” by Dokken and the people there were reacting to it so we gave it a shot. It wasn’t exactly stage ready (this lineup has only played it one time at rehearsal), but we gave it a shot and it wasn’t that bad. Maybe we’ll have that one (and a few others) ready for the next show.
-We had a number of birthdays this night-including (after midnight) our drummer Joe Boyle. We all sang Happy Birthday to him,a guy named Dave and a girl named Gina (in a way I’m sure she’ll remember for awhile 🙂 ). Our set overall was good,-a little loose-but not too bad. On my part, I botched a solo that I never should have, but I normally nail it so…..One funny thing was when we were performing “Out of My Life (I Want You)” …I guess the little bit of “cookie monster” vocal I put in the chorus was a little too much for some people cause some woman was trying to close the door that was between the playing area & the bar. The bouncer-Troy-wouldn’t have any of that though. I thought it was funny to see. In regards to covers-the most popular seemed to be “Love Gun”, “Sex Type Thing” & “For Whom The Bell Tolls.” With the Metallica tune, it was like our crowd multiplied by 5! Our plan of doing 50/50 covers/originals is going well and other aspects of that plan will soon be taking place. A number of people left w/ CAROLINE BLUE CDs. Evan-the Sound Guy here-told us we had a good variety of songs and that, IMHO, he thought our originals sounded better than our covers! That’s always nice to hear.
-We also started a new thing this night. This was an idea from the Andy Man” and here’s a little excerpt about that from him….
“announcing the all new CAROLINE BLUE pin back button collection!! there are five buttons in this collectable series and here’s your chance to get them… FREE!! FREE!! FREE!! …that’s right, i said free.

-We almost ran out of the buttons we came here with! All in all, a fun night. I want to thank everyone who works for The Half Penny Pub for making this an easy night for us-as well as the opportunity to play. Also big thanks to Lovebone for putting on a great set. And, last-but definitely not least-thanks to all the great people who showed up to see us play.
It’s so deeply appreciated!
